EVAN 'SIGMA' AVIES

EVAN AVIES

Hi, my name is Evan Avies, also known as Sigma or sigmavan!I'm a multi-instrumentalist, who's been playing the bass for roughly 7 years now, and has been singing in choirs and ensembles for around 9 years; I also play the guitar and ukulele, and dabble in synth. I'm a Music Performance BTEC student in my 2nd year, I also occasionally stream on Twitch as a hobby, playing RPG games. As a child, I was surrounded by music, being raised by parents who adored british rock, indie, and the occasional electronic banger. I also heard a lot of 2000's punk-rock and metal influence through my older sister, which she had no idea would come back to hit me. :)
As I grew older and developed into my own music taste, I kept those bands from my childhood close to me, yet I also became enamored with pop-punk bands such as Fall Out Boy. I wouldn't move away from this 'phase' until late 2019, where a close friend introduced me to many genres of metal, and my taste has grown since.
I've been in choirs for as long as I can remember, yet I began to start playing an instrument myself as soon I realised I was old enough to muster the strength to press down the strings on my dad's bass guitar- at the age of 8. I used this to my advantage though to play a rhythm game called Rocksmith- I never really took it too seriously until the age of 11, where I realised my playing could be utilised outside of the game. I'd also started to learn the Ukulele around this time, and enjoyed playing and singing along to my favourite songs.
I started taking BTEC Music at 13, after realising just how much I enjoyed playing music, and how I wanted to pursue it further. I am now in college studying BTEC Music Performance in my 2nd year, primarily focusing on developing my skills as a bassist.
Currently, my biggest genre influences as an artist are Electronicore and Metalcore, Synth Metal, and Prog Metal, with my 2 biggest influences being Enter Shikari and Voyager.
I'm in an upcoming electronicore project called Unit No.09, which you can expect to see sometime within the next year!
